Naughty BRGR, the mischievous innovator of the Finnish premium burger scene, is the brainchild of Akseli Herlevi, Finland’s first Top Chef winner. A burger perfectionist, Akseli spent over a decade travelling the world in search of the best burger recipes and restaurants.
A pivotal moment in Akseli’s burger quest came during the Top Chef Duels competition in 2015 when he served a burger brimming with blue cheese and bacon jam that esteemed chef and competition judge Helena Puolakka called “naughty”. And so, the Naughty BRGR was born!
A few weeks after the duel, Akseli decided to put up a burger stall at the Streat Helsinki EATS street food festival to give the public a chance to test the burger as well. People flocked to try the “naughty BRGR” and the small burger stall ended up being the most successful spot at the entire event.
Where are they now?
This solidified Akseli’s belief that there was a demand for a truly premium burger in Finland and inspired him to open the first Naughty BRGR on Lönnrotinkatu in Helsinki.
Naughty BRGR quickly turned into a Finnish burger institution. Since their opening in Helsinki, the restaurant has expanded to four other cities – Espoo, Turku, Tampere and Jyväskylä.
Naughty BRGR continues to serve unapologetically bold burgers with the freshest ingredients. The restaurants are also known for their highly trained staff, with waiters and chefs who never take themselves too seriously but always serve their customers with genuine care.
