Telephone

Most Finns use a mobile phone (country code +358).

There are several GSM operators in Finland and the range of coverage is approximately the same in the Helsinki area.

In practice, you can use all the European mobile phone frequencies in Helsinki.

However, finding a pay phone can be difficult.

Finland has 13 area codes.

Each area code starts with a zero.

For directory enquiries, phone 118.

If you are calling internationally, the most common prefixes are 00, 990 and 999, each giving slightly different rates for international calls.
