NAPA SCHOOL FOR KIDS

The Napa School for kids exhibition raises the lid on the process of working as an illustrator. Illustrators show their work in an exhibition on 8.9.-17.9. at Annantalo Arts Centre

Workshops and Q&A at Annantalo Arts Centre and A.lava 17.9. at 12-4 pm

Illustrators: Ilja Karsikas, Jenni Rope, Matti Pikkujämsä, Jussi Kaakinen, Terhi Ekebom, Nadja Sarell and Marjo Maininki

12-1 pm Q&A How does an illustrator tell stories? Napa School’s illustrators describe their work as illustrators, and children may ask questions of the illustrators! The illustrators are Ilja Karsikas, Jenni Rope, Matti Pikkujämsä, Jussi Kaakinen, Terhi Ekebom,  Nadja Sarell and Marjo Maininki. Children can also ask questions from the Mascot of Nenäpäivä and the Head of Public Relations of Nenäpäivä, Rakel Liekki. /A.lava

1-4 pm Jenni Rope: Flipbook workshop, nonstop

1-4 pm Jussi Kaakinen and Nadja Sarell: Nature takes over the city – participatory art (nonstop)

1-4 pm Marjo Maininki: Design your own Napa School textile bag with illustration techniques and handcraft works. Handbags sponsored by Printmotor (nonstop)

1-4 pm Matti Pikkujämsä: 30 min. portraits (Registration: Annantalo’s event page)

1-2.30 pm Ilja Karsikas: Funny, wild characters (Registration: Annantalo webpages)

Invent a story for your characters! Ilja Karsikas has illustrated many children’s books and made numerous drawing figures. In the workshop Ilja tells how he builds characters based on different stories. Workshop for children, parents and grandparents, where each participant can create their own funny and rude character.

Age recommendation: For people over 5 years old and their parents

Number of participants: About 10 children and 10 adults

Recommended for 1-2 children per adult

1-2.30 pm Terhi Ekebom: Illustrate your dreams (Registration: Annantalo’s event page)

Terhi Ekebom encourages participants to share their own dreams and make illustrations out of them. Children and parents learn to trust their own intuition and their own inner world.

Age recommendation: For people over 6 years and their parents

Number of participants: 10 children and 10 adults

How does an illustrator tell stories?

The exhibition shows the most creative Finnish illustrators and their works. The exhibition features seven of Napa School’s illustrators: Ilja Karsikas, Jenni Rope, Matti Pikkujämsä, Jussi Kaakinen, Terhi Ekebom,  Nadja Sarell and Marjo Maininki.
