Enter is an installation built under Kaartin maneesi, an old riding manege building, that consists of a series of consecutive gates and symbolizes transition from one space, country or culture to another.
With the gates, the designers want to study new residents’ impact on the built environment, and the illustrations are made by workshops organized in, for example, reception centres.
The installation has been designed by Inari Virkkala and Sofia de Vocht of architects Virkkala de Vocht together with architect Petri Herrala and graphic designer Marja Tikka.
Virkkala de Vocht is an office of young architects founded in 2016 in Helsinki and part of the New City collective formed by ten young architects’ offices.
The material partner of the installation is Koskisen Oy.
During Helsinki Design Week, Enter functions as a stage for discussion and various events. A daily programme will be published later.
